International cooperations

International cooperation and networks were established, inter alia, by research cooperation and a vast number of foreign guest scientists, who completed their dissertation at the IVW and then moved on to foreign universities, institutions, or enterprises.

Moreover, numerous recognized researchers from many parts of the world worked at the IVW as guest scientists or awardees, supported by e.g. the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation or the German Research Foundation. In 1996 the President of the Shonan Institute of Technology, Dr. Eitaro Itoyama, initiated the Academic Summit.

This is a cooperation of material oriented institutions of Japan, Korea, USA, Australia, China, and Germany, aiming at the scientific exchange in the area of structural and functional composites through people, joint research projects, and regular workshops at changing locations of the partners involved.
