MI(N)Tmachwelt

Discover the World of Composite Materials with IVW at MI(N)Tmachwelt 2025

At the 5th MI(N)Tmachwelt from September 11 to 13, 2025, at the “Kompetenzzentrum für Umwelt, Technik und Soziales” on the Gartenschau grounds in Kaiserslautern, you can experiment and experience fascinating scientific and technical phenomena.

What does IVW offer?

Day 1: Thursday, September 11, 2025

Workshop: Calling all lightweight construction experts: Discover the world of composite materials together!

In this workshop, we’ll show you the many facets of composite materials and the important role they play in sustainable mobility. To achieve our climate goals, we need to embrace lightweight construction and think about how to use our resources wisely and in a climate-neutral way. Composite materials are key to the future of mobility and the energy transition. But to unlock their full potential, we must understand their life cycles and find out how to recycle them at the end of their useful life. Let’s explore together how lightweight construction and responsible use of composite materials can protect our climate!

  • Grade levels: 8 – 10

Day 2: Friday, September 12, 2025

Workshop: Calling all lightweight construction experts: Discover the world of composite materials together!

We’re offering this exciting workshop again on the second day of MI(N)Tmachwelt. Get to know the world of composite materials and find out how they can be used in sustainable mobile applications. Let’s explore together how we can make a vital contribution to climate protection through lightweight construction and the responsible use of composite materials.

  • Facilitator: Florian Gortner, Leibniz Institute for Composite Materials

  • Grade levels: 8 – 10

Day 3: Saturday, September 13, 2025

Exhibition Booth: Discover the world of composite materials together

Visit our booth and dive into the world of composite materials! Find out why they’re so important for sustainable mobility applications, for example in airplanes, cars, bicycles, and drones. To fully harness their potential, we need to understand their life cycles and figure out how to recycle them at the end of their service life. Using exciting examples from various application areas, you can explore the fascinating world of composite materials.

We have a laboratory press on site with which you can make your own throwing discs from sustainable composite materials based on natural fibers and then test them on the grounds of the garden show.
