We are pleased to announce the successful completion of Jan Eric Semar's dissertation, which he defended under the supervision of PD Dr.-Ing. habil. David May in the Department of Mechanical and Process Engineering at the Rhineland-Palatinate Technical University of Kaiserslautern-Landau (RPTU).

In his dissertation titled "Process Technology for the Production of Thermoset Fiber-Reinforced Plastics with Interlaminar Elastomer Layers using Liquid Impregnation", Jan Eric Semar investigated the influence of various process parameters on the bond strength between the elastomer and the fiber composite. Additionally, he explored how perforating the elastomer enables thickness impregnation.

PD Dr.-Ing. habil. David May emphasized the significance of this work with the following words: "Through Jan's work, we have gained important fundamental knowledge in the field of matrix hybrids and the hybridization of composites with elastomers. The process development and material understanding achieved will sustainably advance our research in this area. Thank you, Jan, for your enthusiasm and excellent work!"

This research has made significant scientific contributions and paved the way for future developments in adhesive process technology.

Jan is currently working as a Development Engineer for Adhesive Process Technology at Carl Zeiss SMT GmbH in Oberkochen. We wish him much success in the future and look forward to his upcoming innovations in adhesive process technology!
