Review of the First Workshop for the Citizen Science Project "BewegungsForscher"

News25

On September 10, 2024, the first workshop of the citizen science project "BewegungsForscher" took place at the Theodor-Zink-Museum in Kaiserslautern. The event was organized in collaboration with the Department of Transfer, Innovation, and Sustainability (RTIN). Through this project, interested citizens, caregivers, and medical professionals are working together to develop a smart orthosis tailored to the individual needs of its users.

The workshop began with an introductory session where participants shared their expectations and personal experiences. The group then focused on selecting specific issues to address. A key topic of discussion was the development of a smart walker, which provides patients with feedback on optimal weight-bearing and recovery progress during rehabilitation after a fracture.

Additionally, participants were introduced to systematic literature research to identify existing research gaps. These results will form the foundation for the next workshop, scheduled for November 2024, where the project's development will continue.

We would like to thank all participants for their valuable contributions and look forward to continuing this collaboration. Together, we aim to develop innovative solutions that will significantly improve the daily lives of people with mobility impairments.
