PhD Colloquium Julian Weber successfully completed

Congratulations to Julian Weber on the successful defense of his doctoral thesis!

His dissertation entitled "Co-consolidation of partially consolidated CF/PEEK tape preforms in thermoforming" was accepted by the Department of Mechanical and Process Engineering at RPTU and supervised by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Peter Mitschang from Leibniz-Institut für Verbundwerkstoffe GmbH.

In his work, he investigated how thermoplastic tape preforms can be processed in thermoforming while welding is used to apply local reinforcements. One example of this is forming joining to produce complex CFRP components in a short time.

Since January 2023, Mr. Weber has been working for the US aerospace supplier Albany Engineered Composites and is Head of Research and Development at the Kaiserslautern site.
