Participation of IVW in the program "Future Coaching" of SIAK Kaiserslautern

On July 27, 2022, we were pleased to welcome five students and their mentors at IVW. Their interest in STEM fields of study and related fields of work is, among other things, the topic of the project "Future Coaching" of the SIAK e.V.. In this project, experienced and successful people from different areas of trade, business and science support students in their choice of studies and careers. The aim is to build up long-term relationships of trust between mentor and student through regular exchanges on all questions relating to the future.

During the visit, the guests were introduced to the career in science by Dr. Barbara Güttler, Manager Material Cycles at IVW. This was followed by a guided tour through individual laboratories of materials science and processing technology. Here, for example, the aeroelastic tailoring of wing shells in aviation was clearly explained using CFRP laminate bending beams with different fiber angles. During the tour, the students already asked initial questions about recycling possibilities for the materials. There was also great interest in additive manufacturing.

The students were able to gain a comprehensive insight into the world of composite materials during the event and hopefully become enthusiastic about it. We would be happy to welcome interested individuals again during their career search.
