SUCCESS Award 2020 for IVW’s Project Partner Math2Market

Math2Market GmbH, IVW’s long-term project partner, has received SUCCESS Award 2020 which is presented yearly by Investitions- und Strukturbank Rheinland-Pfalz (ISB)  to small and medium-sized enterprises for outstanding technological innovations. Math2Market was honored for innovative solutions in the field of digital materials research and development with composite materials developed in cooperation with the IVW.

Math2Market GmbH was founded in 2011 as a spin-off of the Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Mathematics (ITWM) in Kaiserslautern. In 2013, the first contact was established with Institut für Verbundwerkstoffe GmbH (IVW).

During the following years cooperation intensified through joint intrinsic research. As a result, simulation techniques and interfaces specifically designed for composite materials were jointly developed, from which Math2Market quickly established an independent business unit.

Through joint, publicly funded research projects (Zentrales Innovationsprogramm Mittelstand/ Central SME Innovation Program), software components specific to composite materials in GeoDict were continuously evolved.

The great potential of GeoDict for the application field of composite materials is based on the possibilities of analyzing composite materials on microstructure level. The anisotropic properties and thus also the lightweight design potential of fiber reinforced polymer composites are based on the thousands upon thousands of fibers with diameters of a few microns.

This allows the macroscopic material properties to be predicted based on the material characteristics of the microstructure. A further advantage is that GeoDict can be used to map a complete development workflow: from import and analysis of scans, through modeling of realistic fiber structures (from single fibers to textile stacks), to the prediction and simulation of physical (e.g. permeability, electrical and thermal conductivity) and mechanical properties of composites. Today, GeoDict is used as standard in many IVW central research fields and is continuously evolved together with Math2Market.

Congratulations to Math2Market GmbH on this well-deserved success. We are looking forward to a continued successful and pleasant cooperation and to further innovative developments and ideas.
