Hybrid Materials: Interdisciplinary Exchange at DGM

News25

On November 22, 2024, the expert committee “Hybrid Materials and Structures” of the German Society for Materials Science (DGM) met again at its founding location, the German Aerospace Center (DLR) in Cologne-Porz. It was here in 2012 that Prof. Dr. Joachim Hausmann from the Leibniz-Institut für Verbundwerkstoffe GmbH (IVW) established the committee.

Special thanks go to Dr. Jan Haubrich, head of the “Sustainable Materials and Processes” group at the DLR Institute of Materials Research, for hosting the event and facilitating a stimulating exchange.

The expert committee brings together scientists from various disciplines within materials science to collaborate and, in particular, to build bridges between metals and composite materials. IVW contributed to the event with presentations by Dr. Andreas Baumann and Alexander Kosmas.

We look forward to the next meetings and continued interdisciplinary dialogue in this pioneering research field.
