On January 31, 2025, the CU Trainee Day took place at the Leibniz Institute for Composite Materials (IVW). Ten students from various universities across Germany participated in the CU Trainee Program, gaining exciting insights into current research topics on joining technologies for thermoplastic composites. The day offered a dynamic mix of lectures, workshops, and lab tours, allowing participants to combine theoretical knowledge with practical experience.

Program Highlights of the CU Trainee Day 2025:

  • Multiphysical Simulation of the Welding Process
Interactive workshop on digital process modeling.
  • Induction Welding of Thermoplastic Composites
Live demonstrations in the lab and on the welding robot.
  • Non-Destructive Testing of Overlap Joints
Practical insights into ultrasonic analysis in the lab.
  • Dynamic & Cyclic Testing of Joints
Fatigue tests and high-speed imaging in the testing hall.

The CU Trainee Program bridges theoretical foundations with practical application, fostering young talents in the field of fiber-reinforced composites and lightweight construction. In addition to technical knowledge, students benefit from valuable networking opportunities with leading research institutions and industry partners, supporting their career entry.

We thank Composites United for organizing the event and all speakers for their informative and hands-on contributions.
