Exciting insights into Brillouin Spectroscopy: Dr. Rafael J. Jiménez Riobóo visiting IVW

News1Talks27News25

On April 22, 2024, we had the pleasure of welcoming Dr. Rafael J. Jiménez Riobóo, Director of the Brillouin Spectroscopy Laboratory at the Instituto de Ciencia de Materials de Madrid in Spain, to IVW.

Dr. Jiménez Riobóo delivered a captivating lecture titled "Brillouin Spectroscopy: A different way to access elastic and mechanical properties", elucidating the capabilities of this optical-spectroscopic measurement method. Through inelastic scattering of photons on density fluctuations, the E and G moduli of polymers can be determined as a function of external parameters.

Dr. Jiménez Riobóo's visit was part of a collaboration for the  DFG Walter Benjamin Project led by Dr. Andreas Klingler. Drawing from his own research at ICMM, he compellingly showcased the diverse opportunities of Brillouin Spectroscopy and Microscopy for collaboration in the vitrimer field.

The event also featured a brief presentation by Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Jan-Kristian Krüger.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Rafael J. Jiménez Riobóo for the engaging and insightful contributions, and look forward to furthering our collaborative efforts.
