Dr. Miro Duhovic: 15 Years of Global Impact in Composite Materials

News25

Our colleague Dr. Miro Duhovic marked an impressive milestone—15 years with Leibniz-Institut für Verbundwerkstoffe GmbH!

Throughout his career, Miro has made an impact on both sides of the globe, starting with his work at the University of Auckland in New Zealand and now leading projects at Leibniz IVW here in Germany. From developing simulations of composite manufacturing processes to optimizing the production of lightweight automotive and aerospace structures, his work has contributed to making vehicles and aircraft safer and more efficient.

Miro’s contributions extend beyond research. He also shares his expertise by teaching the CAE with Composite Materials course at Rheinland-Pfälzische Technische Universität Kaiserslautern-Landau (RPTU), where students learn how to apply finite element method (FEM) simulations for composite design and manufacturing. The course covers important topics such as stress and thermal analyses, anisotropic materials, and multiphysics simulations, providing future engineers with essential tools for optimizing composite materials.

In addition, Miro maintains strong ties to his roots in New Zealand, serving as an Honorary Academic at the University of Auckland, ensuring that his work and collaborations continue to bridge continents.

We look forward to seeing what the future holds and to many more years of innovation and collaboration!
