Cutting-Edge ENGEL Injection Molding Technology for Research and Teaching

News25

The Leibniz-Institut für Verbundwerkstoffe (IVW) in Kaiserslautern, Germany, is expanding hands-on teaching and research in the field of plastics engineering in cooperation with ENGEL Deutschland GmbH. At the heart of this collaboration is a newly installed, all-electric ENGEL e-mac 100 injection molding machine equipped with state-of-the-art software. It enables energy-efficient and precise processes, offers comprehensive digital connectivity, and thus opens up completely new perspectives for courses and research projects.

Added Value for Students and Research

  • Hands-On Learning: Students at RPTU (Department of Mechanical and Process Engineering) directly benefit from the new system by testing process technologies in laboratory sessions.
  • Digitally Supported Teaching: As part of IVW’s courses and laboratory practicums, future engineers learn how digital tools are utilized to ensure process and product quality.
  • Industry-Oriented Research: As a Leibniz Institute, IVW serves as a bridge between basic research and industrial application, for example in the automotive, aerospace, or medical technology sectors.

Advantages of the ENGEL e-mac 100

  • Energy Efficiency & Precision: The all-electric drive concept ensures minimal losses and maximum process accuracy.
  • Digital Connectivity: Numerous process parameters are recorded in real time and continuously optimized using AI-based analyses.
  • Simulation Meets Practice: With the ENGEL sim link tool, simulation results can be transferred directly into the injection molding process.

Thanks to the partnership with ENGEL, IVW leverages state-of-the-art technology to optimally prepare students and researchers for the challenges of tomorrow’s industry.
