Climbing Together for All: Smart Material Solutions for Greater Inclusion in Climbing!

The joint GesForproject by the RPTU Movement and Training Science Department and the Leibniz-Institut für Verbundwerkstoffe (IVW) combines expertise from sports and materials science to make paraclimbing safer and more accessible. On October 26, 2024, sports scientists Dr. Carlo Dindorf and StevenSimon were on-site at the SAC Para Climbing Cup in Lenzburg, Switzerland, conducting needs analyses to gain valuable insights.

Our goal is to better understand individual needs in paraclimbing and make climbing more inclusive by developing intelligent material solutions. By breaking down barriers, we aim to make climbing safer and more inclusive in the long term. In addition to conducting insightful interviews, we witnessed impressive performances by the athletes at the event.
