Vita Florian Gortner

Florian Gortner studied mechanical engineering at the Kaiserslautern University of Applied Sciences, specializing in automotive engineering and lightweight construction, and graduated with distinction in 2011.

This was followed by a master's degree in "Plastics Technology and Fiber Composites" at theTechnical University of Kaiserslautern, which he successfully completed in 2013.

He then began working as a research assistant at the "Leibniz-Institut für Verbundwerkstoffe" under Prof. Dr.-Ing. Peter Mitschang in the field of Manufacturing Science in the area of SMC development.

In 2019, he completed his doctoral thesis on "Bio-based and renewable fillers for density-reduced sheet molding compounds" and was awarded his doctorate at the TU Kaiserslautern.

He then worked as a PostDoc in the Processing Technology department with cross-departmental tasks in the areas of sustainable and bio-based materials, process and SMC development.

Since November 2024, Dr. Gortner is Manager of the Competence Field Remanufacturing & Repair and is responsible for the research fields of "rCF processing, cascade use of recycled reinforcement fibers, repair technology and LCA".
