Vita Sebastian Schmeer

Dr.-Ing. Sebastian Schmeer, born 1975, studied Civil Engineering with the specialization in "Structural Engineering" at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). He graduated in 2002 with his thesis in the field of fiber composites at the EADS Corporate Research Center (nowadays Airbus). 

In 2003, he started to work at the Institute for Composite Materials as a research assistant, where he obtained his doctorate in 2009 in the field of "Experimental and Simulative Analysis of Induction Welded Hybrid Joints". He then worked as a team leader in the department "Design and Analysis". In 2011 he became a member of the Technology Transfer Team (TTT) of  IVW and in 2012 he became the research manager of the competence field "Crash & Energy Absorption (Modeling, Simulation and Testing)“. Since 2015, he is the Deputy Research Director of the department "Component Development".

Dr. Schmeer is married and has two children.
